Medical Legal Nurse Consulting, LLC
Providing essential
medical insight
MLNC (Medical Legal Nurse Consulting)  has two divisions,  a nurse medical record review service and a nurse liaison (sometimes referred to as case management) service.

Our medical record review service provides attorneys with valuable medical insight. Our goal is to assist our clients by sharing professional knowledge, unbiased medical opinions, and support. We deliver work products that assist you in understanding the complex medical issues of the case/claim.  In most cases/claims a review and a detailed analysis of the medical records is performed; a fact chronology and a summary of the case is prepared. The summary includes medically specific education and translation of medical terms. The summary also highlights any strengths and any weaknesses of the case/claim seen from an impartial medical perspective.

Our nurse liaison service provides the client with support, education and prudent insight. We review any available medical records, confirm the appointment with the patient, remind them to obtain any films, attend the exam (IMEs, second opinions and treating physician exams etc.) and provide an unbiased summary report. The patient feels supported and the client feels more comfortable knowing that one of our trained nurses is attending the visit. Our nurses can assist with the physician-patient communication by bringing important records to the visit, knowing the patient's history (such as prior treatments and test results), clarifying unfamiliar medical terminology and ensuring inappropriate questions are not answered.  Our nurses can assist with the attorney-physician communication. Our nurses are able to provide the behind the scenes/off the record information that the physician's note will not tell you, such as the amount of time the physician spent in the room, the questions asked, the physician's demeanor and anything that physician may want you to know, but is uncomfortable putting in their note (i.e. they think the patient is faking their injury). Further, our report is presented more quickly than the physician's written report is likely to be received giving you critical information, which allows you to determine your next steps in the case more quickly. Once the physician note is received we are happy to discuss the recommended treatment plan or the physician's opinion. When an IME or a second opinion is performed the physician's opinion may be unfavorable. We can assist you in understanding how and why the physician came to that conclusion.

* Please note that the nurse liaison service is different from our fact witness service. Our fact witness service includes observing the physician examination, taking notes and issuing a report. Medical records would not be reviewed and there would be little to no communication with the physician or the patient.

Please request a fee schedule and more information if you are interested in any of our services.
